- Track 1: Hope Bear presenting Enhancing Your "Humanness"
Everyone can do a job, but it is how one does their job that truly makes a difference and creates a high level of engagement. Today companies are challenged to bring humanness back to the workplace but how can that be accomplished when people are afraid to be vulnerable and show their true selves. It takes leaders who value humanness and encourage others to share themselves. Today we will explore how EQ, and empathy add value to the workplace and how you, as a leader, can hone these skills to be more successful and create a more supportive, transparent and trusting environment with your team to ultimately achieve your business results.
- Track 2: Kelly Stewart presenting Doing Well by Doing Good
There are certain companies that always seem to thrive today, no matter what challenges and change they face. They have a seemingly effortless way of attracting and retaining talent, growing revenue, and innovating. What’s their secret? They’ve broken through the burden of doing “business as usual” by intentionally planning for and incorporating the society-builder paradigm throughout their organizations. They have a genuine belief that a concern for people and planet can co-exist with an ambition for-profit and it shows – from the way they recruit, hire, onboard, and care for employees to the way they negotiate contracts, work with vendors and suppliers who share their mindset, and the way they reward the people with a financial stake in their companies. Becoming more purpose-driven, socially-conscious, and environmentally-aware is the 21st century way of doing business for companies that remain relevant and viable in the modern market.

I want to go through a typical day (there's really no such thing as a typical day of an editor). the importance of reporting, and testing to get the best story possible, and to answer any questions about getting your foot in the door of this ever-changing media world.
Breakout 3: 1:30p – 2:20p
- Track 1: Laurie Palau presenting Turning Your Passion into a Profession
Did you ever wish you could get paid to do what you love? Perhaps you have a gift or hobby that you’d love the world to know about but have no idea where to start. Maybe fear or insecurity stands in your way of taking that leap of faith? Many people are good at something, but knowing how to translate that “something” into a successful business takes an entirely different skillset. If you are ready to take that leap of faith, you’ve come to the right place. I know, firsthand, how overwhelming and isolating it can be running your own company. When I started Simply B Organized in 2009 I had no idea what I was doing! With a combination of hustle, humility, and grace, I somehow figured it out. I wish that I had someone who I could turn to with my honest fears and questions, like:
- how on earth do I balance family and career?
- What the heck is an email list and why do I need one?
- There are already a bunch of people doing this, so where do I fit in?
We'll talk about some of the common challenges people face when building a business from the ground up, such as:
- Defining your goals
- Developing your mission statement
- Legitimizing your brand
- Building an online presence
- Time Blocking
- Overcoming Imposters Syndrome
- Track 2: Candace Yaeger presenting It Takes a Village: Building Your Tribe
Being an entrepreneur can be a lonely game if you let it. However, by isolating ourselves, we are closing ourselves off to opportunity while opening the door for burn-out (and even depression!) Want success and happiness as an entrepreneur? Don’t go about it alone – it takes a village. In this 50 minute program, attendees will hear from an expert in Psychology, Human Behavior, and Business some of the reasons entrepreneurship should not be a road walked alone. Attendees will also learn who they will need to add to their ‘tribe’ as they build and grow their business- from strategic partners, mentors, and members for their Board of Peer Advisors. They’ll learn who they need in their corner and where to find them! They’ll leave with insights on how to approach these people and how to effectively communicate their business idea in order to get their ‘buy-in’ and support. Entrepreneurs will feel more supported and better equipped for the adventures of entrepreneurship once they have a tribe on their side!
Breakout 4: 2:30p – 3:20p
- Track 1: Rhyan Strasters presenting Elevate Yourself - Elevate Your Business
Elevate Yourself - Elevate Your Business Presentation will teach students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and/or seasoned business owners how brands like Oprah, Venus Williams, George Clooney, to Beyonce used celebrity status to skyrocket their personal business brands. Find out the 3 step formula! As an Image Consultant, I have used these same practices to elevate my clients-- to getting promoted (twice in 6 months since working together) and refining their personal brand on live tv. Participants will understand that branding isn’t just good for companies, they are the adjectives used to describe you. "Personal brand is what people say about you when you leave the room". Most importantly, the right kind of branding, implemented in the right way can bring an individual's business from celebrity status to an international brand.
